Carmen Daniels

Carmen Daniels is a retired educator and longtime Nehemiah homeowner. In the 1980s, a period of food shortage forced she and her daughter to immigrate from their home country of Guyana. A friend connected Carmen to the Nehemiah project while she was getting her bearings as a young teacher in New York City public schools. For her, the program was nothing short of life-changing. Being able to affordably own in a Nehemiah neighborhood saved her from the debilitating stress of a high interest home loan. Since her arrival in the neighborhood, Carmen has become a reliable leader in EBC’s efforts to improve the quality of life for all East Brooklyn residents.
