An original resident of the Brownsville Nehemiah homes, Alberto Hernandez is the kind of homeowner who helps keep a community together. Following in the footsteps of the early EBC leaders who brought him into their coalition, Al took up the challenge of leading a block association and later joined the Nehemiah HOA Board of Directors. Over the years, he has played an important major role in grassroots campaigns ranging from a successful fight to root out crime in his neighborhood, to a transformative effort to lower interest rates for Nehemiah homeowners. Al has enjoyed success as a grassroots leader because of his ability to form deep relationships. Ask him about any house on his street and he can give you a full family history for every resident who ever lived there.
